for onsite and offsite visitors.

360 Virtual Exhibition For the British Council

February - April 2020

City. Lagos, Nigeria

Co-Curator, Interior Designer, Virtual Experience Design Team Lead.

Approach

To embody the spirit of the organization, we approached the project from the angle of architecture and interior design. We proposed an architectural evolution of the british council libraries in different parts of the country at specific time periods to represent the past, present and future of the organization in Nigeria.

Research

Some of the library locations had been moved and the structures changed. For instance the British Council's first center in Nigeria situated in Ibadan in 1945 no longer exists in the present day, such locations were recreated as 3D models for the VR tour referencing old pictures and architecture of that time period.

Takeaways

Impact:

There were over a thousand downloads on the playstore platform.

Quotes from visitors: “This is fantastic, the experience was smooth and navigation easy’’

“I enjoyed it but instead of using the controller, a look to teleport might have been better’’

What I learned:

Brainstorming sessions during the design phase is necessary to anticipate user needs. An example of this was the possibility of phobias for heights or limited movements while using the headset.

To address this revolving chairs were provided for visitors to seat in while in the VR environment.
